very fun

Very fun game with a little replay value. Alright, so this game is definitely has the "classic" feel to it. Seriously felt like I was playing some metal slug/splatterhouse.

The music, although by different artists, fit together nicely. I really enjoyed the title screen song actually, which is probably why it's the title screen song.

The graphics were OUTstanding, I mean, if you just look at the detail put into the backgrounds and some of the foregrounds. It looks amazing and brings up all kinds of nostalgia. Your art seriously makes this game stand out for me because there are so many things going on per frame I can't even stand it.

The gameplay itself was exciting, fun and surprisingly difficult which really gave me a splatterhouse vibe. I did find it a little easy though, what with having infinite lives and checkpoint respawns. But I suppose people today can't handle classic throw-the-controller-at-the-tv difficulty. I found the melee attacks to be a tad underpowered, especially with the scarcity of the guns at some parts. It doesn't matter though because if you die, you just respawn at the same area with plenty of fresh ammo; Which I find a little too easy. A minor complaint I have is that the zombies come down to a certain point before they move forward to attack. Well, I found that you are unable to hit them when they come at you from the highest angle. Even though my bullets pass through their upper legs it doesn't hit them. This makes it a little annoying because you have to run backwards, re-adjust and then fire which causes you to take hits most of the time. Also, I found that the light at his hip is in a fixed position so when you attack and his body moves, the light does not. I'd hate to say it's unrealistic because of the game this is but it just bothers me a bit.

I was surprised to see so many recent game references, especially since this is supposed to be a recreation of late 80's, early 90's arcade games. I did catch some older references, whether they were intentional or not but still it seemed valve was a big inspiration to you. The main character even looks a bit like Ellis. The ending really messed with me too, I wasn't sure if the zombies end or not so after several attempts and failures I gave up and just ran for the jeep.

Overall, this is a solid game that you can come back to and enjoy. Replayability is often very hard for me to find in a shooter flash game.

5 out of 5 / 9 out of 10

P.S. - I'm sure I'm just an idiot but I wasn't really clear on the whole collecting tanks thing, maybe you could elaborate. I killed every enemy in the game and went every I could go but I never I had 0 tanks at the end of the level.

good

The music is very fun to listen too and there is some variety so you don't get bored with it.

The game itself is a cool idea and I had a good time playing through the progressively harder stages. Having the option to add bonuses that make the game harder was fun but I just picked them without trying it normally and i managed to pass it no problem. So maybe make it a little more difficult if you make a sequel.

Overall, the physics work well and the different things you can do to get to the blocks and stay away from the wrong ones works well and it's fun. This game is basically what the title says, you listen to good music (rock) and you try to get the biggest combo you can get without screwing up (risk). Great job on a fun and addictive game, although it does feel a little repetitive once you get near the end.

SiJaf responds:

Hey, thanks! Changing the difficulty will be a bit hard, because there are alreaday people complaining that the game is too hard :D But I can add different difficulty options.

It was fun while it lasted

I liked the game and the physics of it but many of the levels were repetitive and too easy. I never had a problem with any of the levels and that's why I think the game is too short. I hope in the sequel you add many more options for your bridge and make the levels a little more challenging.

PicasoGames responds:

"normal" mode is more challenging than "easy". Please, try it.

good game and all but..

You can't even post your high score? What is that crap!? As far as your words go, most of them are words a 3rd grader would know. A few of them went as high as grade 7. Whoop dee doo. The game is fine and all but good lord don't tell people it will expand their vocabulary unless they are retarded.

edmister responds:

gonna add high scores now!

wow....

even with the best gun it takes a million years to kill anything. Very slow and not very fun. Please fix it by even starting us with more money seeing as you have to have a weapons, body, and legs. Maybe re-submit this after you tweak it up.

badseed1 responds:

Definitely needs tweaking. I like the idea, the gameplay is not really gameplay, it's just a step above automatically calculating results...

LOL

how is this boring? the characters are hilarious, example, tupac, obama and the fighting rocks. This is only a beta and this game rocks ass! I love the ability to make your own character but the creator needs work big time. Like the drawing tool just making lines all over the place it sucks ass and there is no undo button whats up with that? I made cyclops from xmen and he looked good but i couldn't save him. One thing to fix too is the freakin hodukens. I was fighting solid snake and we got far apart and he spammed hodukens at me in a perfect line. I managed to get some in myself and kill him but that was just retarded. Anyways this game IS AMAZING!

SESSNET responds:

Thanks Dude!

There is an undo button in paint, in the top left.

To not draw lines all over the place, click that "continous" button

of course I will try to fix everything humanly possible. Thanks!

lol

the only reason I didn't blam this is because of it's stupidity lol. I must admit though, that is the finest looking orb of light I've ever seen.

Ferris98 responds:

Fun Fact: That orb took a whole day to perfect :)

alright

This is an interesting little game with a very simple feeling and as far as that goes good job. However, the gameplay is so boring it makes math teachers look like Mickey Mouse. Just the same scrolling backgrounds over and over with the same enemy coming at you and dying in one hit. And the EXACT SAME BOSS every single time. Basically you took about 20 seconds of gameplay including the boss and looped it over and over calling it a game.

Aside from that the powerups are boring and they suck. The shield lasts for only a couple seconds, the health doesn't even matter because you rarely get hit and the NUKE! is just stupid. Kills everything on the screen.... Ya there is usually only one enemy on the screen at a time anyway its useless.

It was funny because when I played it there were only 3 people on the scoreboard including me. they only had 300 points which means they turned the game off right away. I played to 4500 or something my name is, Fuck, btw. Overall this game gets a 1/5 for major suckage.

Syncopated responds:

Wellll obviously I appreciate the extensive review and relatively in-depth gameplay, despite the fact that your numerical review is a tad harsh. You certainly make some fair points...it's definitely easy, there isn't an enormous amount of content, and I suppose the nuke is a little lackluster in the end. Anyway, thanks for the honest feedback.

But really, why dirty up my high score table like that?

pretty good

this engine needs alot of work because you can't look up or down and the jumping delay from when you fall off a platform is terrible. However, the movements are fluid and I like the well done screeching delay when you start running and stop. That's classic. I know this is just a piece of what you most likely hope to accomplish with later versions so I won't give you a low score or a high score because this isn't really anything so a 6 should be a nice medium.

P.S. I like how when you start running he turns into the classic SEGA GameGear sonic I lol'd. Back in the day when the GameGear came out I was like, FUCK GAMEBOY! I still think gamegear looks better than many handhelds that came way after such as, gameboy color or gameboy advance to name a couple. People hated the Game Gear because it was so huge but I think they are just mad because their hands are small. Game Gear fucking rocks balls and don't let anyone say otherwise.

P.P.S. Lol sorry for using this review like a blog or forum. I just love to talk about video games. :)

hiimcody1 responds:

Thanks for the review!
Looking up and down is something im working on, but theres additional abilities such as the spindash and super peel out which are still in the works so i didnt bother implementing those keys yet... And im definitely sticking with the megadrive sprites, they look much better than the gba ones... gravity is a mess >.<

obviously you were kidding right?

This game is so terrible the art work looks like it was drawn by an 8 year old and the mario costume isn't dragable. There really arent a whole lot of clothing options and this game is really boring. If you want to submit a dress up game you have to have alot of options and make it fun. Maybe add some music options, backgrounds catagories for clothes and MANY clothes in each catagorie that show up when you click on it. ALso don't just make pants or shoes and then make them 7 different colors and call it alot of options. Cause its not. EPIC FAIL!

thats great i don,t care

I'm just a man and this is a website and that's a hat. I have the creativity to make something great but lack the motivation so I just say fuck it and create shitty flashes. I have been known to rap and I will spend several dollars on a present for you.
