you know

I don't frequent the audio portal much but I'm glad I took a peak today. I don't know if it's just nostalgia or how you made this song but it gives me a warm feeling inside. I feel that you captured what 8-bit music was all about and I can totally picture the game this would go to. Have you ever played Kickle's Cubicle for NES? The end credit music for that game sounds very familiar to this at a certain point and I think that is what you captured with this song. Weird how something so simple can stir up such feelings of joy.

MetaKnowledge responds:

I'm really glad you liked it, thanks for the review. I haven't played Kickle's Cubicle, but I was very inspired by end credits such as Mario Land on the Game Boy, etc. The songs sound rather whimsical and were really imprinted on my memory as a child, alongside that feeling of happiness to see the end of the game. It's great to feel the effect that video game music and the video games have effected our lives.

finally

The song doesn't have a bass kick going, boom, boom, boom, throughout the whole song. As far as the cover goes, it's pretty accurate to the original but at the same time it isn't. In fact, I like this much more than the original because it has more energy behind it and it really brings out the "bounce" in the song. You can actually hear all the instruments unlike the old one where that terrible space synthesizer sound overpowers everything else.

I remember playing a little bit of this game when I was a kid and I thought it was badass. Seeing it now though... Time was not good to it. I don't know if you can find these games anymore but look up, rage of mages and Shogo. I still play Rage of Mages once in a while and it's just as much fun now as it was back in the 90's. Shogo is a game about mechs as well as a bunch of FPS action with lots of gore which = awesome.

Treviabot92-Virstein responds:

You seriously played that game? Wow, and here I was thinking that it was unduely unpopular. Obviously not, and thank God for that.

Thanks for the review!

awesome

Sounds like a song the undead could get down to. I like to hear a scary song that is so upbeat and fast. When the kick starts you know it's killing time but the first few notes really sound like the melody to funkytown. Am I the only one who hears it?

Anth0n responds:

You're not the only one who hears it. I didn't do it intentionally, of course. Thanks for reviewing.

yes...

The melody sounds exactly how it's supposed to and I even like the sound of the guitar for this particular song. The breakdowns and fills weren't too bad, pretty basic, but it didn't sound bad. Maybe try mixing up the snare and instead of doing straight rolls every time try triplets and perhaps throw in a couple tom hits on the down beat. The kicks were extremely bland, it kept the beat alright, but I would have likes some variety.

Overall it sounds pretty good, did you make it from scratch or look up the notes? Other than my complaint about some of the fills and the kick, it's a pretty solid cover.

Treviabot92-Virstein responds:

I kinda did both. I had to listen to some midi sequencing to get the bass right, but sheet music also helped.

I figured I had some work to do on the drums, seeing as they're relatively quiet, compared to the guitar and bass. I had toms in there, to beat in the same way as the bass, but they don't pop much.

Thanks for the review!

GREAT SONG

what a fantastic song this is, it's so excellent and awesome and full of excellence. Actually it's not any of those things. Like always your music sucks, you suck and people who review your music suck. Nice job extending the length of the song, now if you could only extend the length of your dick you might have a full 4 inches to work with. Ladies love a man-blob with a tiny penis... But I digress, you often criticize me for going off topic so let me tell you that the drums were off, the guitar was off and the bass was off. By off of course I mean you're extremely gay.

I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I did writing it!!! :) :) :)

Treviabot92-Virstein responds:

First off, you didn't listen to the song. Second off, you have a dirty mind. Third off, I like my six-inch penis the way it is, thank you very much.

...

Why are the kicks exactly the same in every single song you do. Obviously you don't play drums because the drums in all your songs are just awful. Also I hate you.

Treviabot92-Virstein responds:

Please stick to the song, versus your personal view of me.

hey

Not bad... But can you kill a dinosaur while riding a unicorn? Yea, I didn't think so.

Treviabot92-Virstein responds:

How is that even relevant?

damn

That is a deadly song dude. I can't believe how cool it sounds and it makes you feel good. I wish I had a mic, I would love to write some lyrics for this. I think I'm going to go out and get a mic.

DJDureagon responds:

Get that mic. And thanks for the review.

nice

Bloodsport = epic movie. You have watched it over 9000 times because I don't think i could ever get sick of watching it. This song isn't very famous but I like your little spin you put on it and yes, it is very catchy. That silent part at around 2:34 could use some work. It just doesn't... fit. I don't know what it is.

BLAZEOFTIME responds:

thank you for taking the time to write a review, i was really shnockered off my hind quarters through out the entire process. i'm glad you enjoyed it and i hope you check out my newer songs! cheers mate!

hmmm

Not sure I agree about you getting signed, but then again they will give any shmoe a record deal nowadays. The song itself is alright, the distortion in your vocals kind of brings the song down just because it's almost irritating to listen to. I love the lyrics, not because I'm anti-religion, but because it seems like you are trying to tell us that we should believe in ourselves. We shouldn't look to a man in the sky for answers, love or reason. We can find those things right here, in the real world.

Who is your god? We are all god of our own lives and WE decide our own fate.

BuryYourFace responds:

bingo! you got it buddy... but uhhh did you just call me a shmoe? >:( But, yes that is the message I was trying to express in this song... Spot on my friend ;)

I'm just a man and this is a website and that's a hat. I have the creativity to make something great but lack the motivation so I just say fuck it and create shitty flashes. I have been known to rap and I will spend several dollars on a present for you.
